Chevy Classic Cars for Leisure Drive

The Chevrolet Bel Air is a full-size automobile that was produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors for the 1950–1975 model years. One of popular choices by many being regarded as the Chevy Classic Cars is its second generation that is mass produced during 1955 to 1957. Chevy Bel Air has the right traditional gliding air cushion ride that is typical, though it may not resemble the secured comfort of today’s car, but nonetheless was an elusive dream of many motorists for the era.

Comparing to today modern Compact Car with similar passengers capacity, with safety and efficiency in mind, the Bel Air is surely be beaten in every aspect, a modern car has clear advantageous over advanced technology in Engine Management as well as NVH department.

Is the Bel Air suitable for our narrow streets and able to provide today’s driving comfort, particularly in those never ending bumper to bumper traffic jam? Indeed this Classic Car does have its own legacy, and yes it looks perfect being parked in our heritage house, it provokes the reminiscent of the era.

Incidentally alongside is a Nissan Serena, a Sub-Compact sized minibus with more or less equal hauling capacity and interestingly with similar wallowing ride. Despite of its non-inspiring handling the Serena is quite a potent country driving car, four adults at the back with a bit of space for luggage. High speed cruiser is the Nissan’s forte, alas but is not fun for stop and go driving, even changing lane requires delicate maneuver.

Enter a tad bigger than Kei truck the sub Sub-Compact sized minibus, Suzuki APV, an eight passengers carrying capacity performer with small power plant and rudimentary chassis set up. Its rear end is held by mere leaf spring which perhaps is designed to carry ample of loads, yet it is surprisingly balanced toward flat cornering characteristic, and somewhat marred by very firm  not to the extend of jarring ride.

The little 1,500 cc engine is also a welcoming gutsy motor mated to unsophisticated non-computer controlled Automatic Transmission, though upon flooring the gas pedal it shows a respectable acceleration with acceptable shift responses.

At the end of the day upon careful selection, I would choose the Classic Car for my leisure driving, the Nissan for a long relax trip, and the City Car for everyday stop and go - bumper to bumper traffic. A Subaru Imprezza would be an overkill! Though on the second thought driving this four wheel drive high performance sedan on my own alone is quite a thrilling.
