Fall Driving Tips!

As the fall is fast approaching we could not dismiss the fact of its hazardous conditions toward our driving habits. The fact that we would still have glaring sunlight despite of the daylight becoming shorter; your vision could be limited by the then longer darkness. It is most likely to be driving home at the mercy of your car’s head lighting.

Then towards the month of October there could be some early morning frost. It does not matter if such frost occurs within the winter, as it becomes so obvious, yet it is that surprising icy black corner or spot which mostly has caught drivers unaware of. The early morning frost black ice might induce a momentarily lost of traction which unfortunately could injure anyone in the vicinity. The faster a car driving into the black ice the greater destructive impact would be!

Indeed these are the hazards contributing the highest fatality crash rate spanning out of long term period statistic study, more than any other month within a year. The fatality rate during last October stood at 10.2 deaths/ Billion kilometres.

Could I get away from the frost induced risks by driving a 4 wheel truck? Most 4 wheel truck may not have its 4x4 feature engage all the time, but most modern all wheel drive vehicle may have its 4x4 feature engaged and a few has electronic sensor to be activated only as required. In this case the degree of traction loss might still be possible to be minimized and thus the vehicle is able to be directed out of danger.

In fact some of premium car has such feature; whenever it senses one of its wheel spins, the opposite wheel on the other end of axis would get an increase of power to compensate the lost traction. A few of these cars may have an option to compensate further by distributing power more evenly on its 4 corners should they are equipped with all wheel drive feature.

Without such advanced technology laden car a driver needs to have very quick reflex as well as years of training to over come traction loss, only those WRC drivers or those who have been at the Best Rally Schools could attain such level of skill. Fortunately for most of us the ordinary driver who does not have any of the above privileges, we might still be able to rely upon good set up of our car. Set of best tire available, proper functioning suspension and a very good driving carefulness!

Have an enjoyable and safe Fall Driving!
