Early on I made a review on a particular Add-on chip. Although the underlying engineering assumption is correct in its own term I did sound a cautious remark as whether such particular chip on any brand warrants their claims to deliver the results! Shop around to find out its brand credibility. And get more facts about its product's capability, if possible from any happy customer. A review from good off-line car magazine, a few chat with reputable car tuner workshop.
There is a dozen excellent magazines dedicated for car's modification, yet only a few have global reach circulation. Depending on your car make and displacement engine's size, some make detailed technical article that is perfect for modification's guideline. These are magazines that I always find enthusiastic to read, as a good reference. And yields an enjoyable reading over and over, some dated to 1980s:
- Sport Compact Cars, a good American magazine covering modification projects into great detail. Most projects are published in series.
- VW magazine, this is a focus magazine dedicated for the brand. Predominantly on water cooled engine. Great detail on rebuilding VW's ride
- FastFour, an Australian magazine with one off modification project per article.
- Hot rod, no need for explanation here!
- Classic Car, from British publishing magazine dedicated for rare drive. Predominantly on maintenance oldies car rather than rebuilding, as they adamantly stick to their old proverb of "don't fix it if it a'int broken".
Here is one good example of car modification from Sport Compact Car's Project. It is on a 1984 Toyota Corolla SR5 AE 86, and the modification include chip piggy back add-to control Air fuel ratio; Apexi AFC Neo . Apexi product has been largely mention on most of the above magazine when it comes to make performance projects, it's a good reputable after market company. Apexi product list
